Cost of your treatment and care
It will take some time before you receive a bill from the hospital (this will be between 1 to 3 months after your visit). You must pay this bill within 15 days.
We recommend that you discuss the cost of your treatment or procedure with your doctor in advance. The doctor will give you more information about this.
Please note: costs incurred in hospitals that are not related to therapy will be subject to 21% VAT. This may concern products, but also services, treatments and procedures.

Terms of payment
All hospital charges will be billed by the hospital.
All invoices are payable no later than 15 days after the date of dispatch. In case of a first reminder from the hospital, you will be charged an additional administration fee of 5 euros. If payment is not made, the amount due will be increased by an administration fee of 15 euros, a compensation clause of 10%, and late payment interest at the legally determined interest rate from the invoice due date. The case will also be transferred for judicial recovery.
In the event of a dispute, the courts of the district of Leuven have sole jurisdiction.

No Belgian health insurance fund
Do you come from abroad and are you not affiliated with a Belgian health insurance fund? Then be sure to read the information below and provide the necessary documents at the time of registration. After all, a hospital stay without the intervention of a health insurance fund or insurer can have major financial consequences for you.
You are an EU citizen:
- For a planned procedure you need an S2 form from your health insurer in your country
- A valid European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) is sufficient for an emergency admission
- Do you work for the European Commission? Then you need a guarantee addressed to the hospital. More information is available here.
You are not an EU citizen:
- A valid guarantee statement, addressed to the hospital. If none of the above documents can be submitted, an advance payment may be requested.
