No Belgian health insurance fund?
Do you come from abroad and are you not affiliated to a Belgian health insurance fund? Then be sure to read the information below and provide the necessary documents when registering. A hospital stay without the intervention of a health insurance fund or insurer can have major financial consequences for you.
You are an EU citizen:
- For a planned procedure you need an S2-form from your health insurer in your country.
- For an emergency admission, a valid European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) is sufficient.
- Are you employed by the European Commission? Then you need a guarantee addressed to the hospital.

You aren't an EU citizen:
- A valid guarantee declaration addressed to the hospital.
If none of the above documents can be presented, an advance payment may be requested.
